UPDATE!
Molly Pup has been pulled from Austin Animal Center by Austin Pets Alive! This is great news because it means she is no longer at risk of euthanasia! But she is still the biggest love bug ever and still needs her forever home! She has been renamed Lollipop and you can now adopt her from APA. You can get all the details from her profile page. APA rotates where dogs are kept to get them maximum exposure so be sure to check where she’s going to be for that day!
Please consider volunteering at your local shelter or donating supplies or money to animal welfare organizations this holiday season. Giving in the name of a loved one would make a great gift.
Meet Molly Pup
Molly Pup is female Staffordshire Terrier mix who has been in the shelter since October 11. She’s a little over two years old and Ash and Nikki can attest to the fact that she is incredibly sweet. When they met her she just wanted to play and snuggle. Molly Pup is spayed and looking for a forever home where she will get all the love she wants.

Hi everyone, this is Chelsea. You might remember Sam, whose sketch I drew in September of this year. He was heartworm positive when Noah’s Ark Rescue took him in, and he and six other HW-positive dogs desperately need our help! Here’s the story from NAR:
For those of you that don’t know this already, we have been unable to get Immiticide which is the treatment for dogs that are high Heartworm Positive. Merial, which is the manufacturer of Immiticide had to quit production this year due to problems at their plant. Immiticide is the only proven treatment for dogs that are on the high positive list to rid their bodies of the worms. We have been doing a slow kill on all of the animals while we were waiting for Immiticide to come back into distribution. Surgery is an option but only for dogs where the worms have invaded the valves in the heart. None of our dogs have reached that point or we would have already had the surgery on them. The European division of Merial still produces Immiticide. It has been approved for the European market but has not been approved for the USA market. It takes years to get the FDA to do the necessary studies for any product to be approved. The products are identical. After thorough tests we now feel confident the product is the same as the original product Merial manufactured here. An animal has to be in the late stage of Heartworm Disease to be eligible for the treatment. All of the above dogs are eligible and have been approved for the treatment based on their medical history and the fact they will eventually die from the disease without the treatment. The product is given based on weight and is very expensive. We do not take Immiticide treatment lightly because of all the side effects it can have. It needs to be done in a calm controlled medical environment where the dogs are kept quiet and closely monitored. That is what we have arranged for each animal. Please, help us raise the funds so each one of these special animals can live a long healthy life free of heartworms and the pain and suffering they cause.
I know the holiday season is a difficult time for everyone, money-wise, but you might consider donating to these amazing dogs in someone’s name – what an awesome gift!
Here’s the donation link and more information.

This week’s Shelter Sketch has absolutely melted my heart, and I’m sure he’ll melt yours as well!
Meet Samson
Samson is a four year old Staffordshire Terrier mix who was abandoned by his previous guardian. This muscular 60 lbs. boy is extremely well-behaved and mindful of people. He even walks on leash perfectly! He is loving, calm, crate-trained, neutered, and up to date on shots. What more could you ask for in a canine friend??

Sorry this week’s sketch was a bit late! We moved in to our new apartment on Wednesday afternoon so things have been craaaazy busy since then. I hope everyone is staying warm and toasty (or if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, staying cool)!
Meet Nikki
Nikki is a female pug who is about three years old. She loves people and is always wagging her curly little tail. Nikki was rescued from a puppy mill so she still needs to be taken outside regularly or she might have an accident. She also has some mild knee problems so would do best in a house without stairs. Can you give this little nugget a forever home?

Today I learned about Brooklyn, one of the many greyhounds at the Canidrome Racetrack in Macau who are in real danger. That track doesn’t adopt out any of its dogs, and more than 400 of them are killed there each year. Please check that link and do what you can to help.
Meet Rita
Rita is a beautiful two year old female greyhound. Her racing name was U Betcha Rita, but now she just wants to live the good life in a forever home. Rita is spayed, up-to-date on her shots, and house-trained. Please consider bringing this lovely lady into your life.
