Shelter Sketches: Meet Johnny Cash

I was having computer troubles last week so wasn’t able to update Shelter Sketches. I hope this week’s adorable pup makes up for it!

Meet Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash is a senior male dachshund, but he’s still energetic and spry. He loves walks, snuggles, and children, so would do great in a home with kids. He also seems to enjoy music and prances around whenever he hears it! Johnny is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on flea preventative. Unfortunately, because his previous guardians didn’t take good care of him, he is heartworm positive, but is on slow-kill treatment that will be provided by Raja Renata Ranch until he is heartworm negative. Who wouldn’t want this little guy for a companion? Johnny deserves a loving forever home.

Shelter Sketches: Meet Smiley

Sorry for the late post! I did the Ragnar Relay this weekend and just sort of lost track of the days. I’m making up for it with a very pretty kitty though. 🙂

Meet Smiley

Smiley is an adult female cat who was surrendered by her previous guardian. As with many white cats – especially those with one or more blue eyes – Smiley is deaf, but that doesn’t seem to bother her at all! She’s happy, playful, and outgoing. Spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and house-trained, Smiley will make an amazing companion.

Shelter Sketches: Meet Jessica

I’m excited to have another sketch from a guest artist today! Gaëlle has done some work for Shelter Sketches before, and I think her art has gotten even better since last time. 🙂

Meet Jessica

Jessica is a young adult female who was brought to the shelter with her newborn kittens. They have all grown up now, and Jessica is in a foster home where she loves to play and explore. She’s an excellent snuggler and gets along well with other cats and dogs; in fact, her foster family says she is “all round perfect.” Jessica is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and house-trained. Please help her find a forever home!

Gaëlle Camus draws for fun. She lives in France, surrounded by dogs who are mostly rescued Siberian huskies, abandoned because many people misunderstand the breed. She fosters dogs when she can and does dog rescue transports. You can find more of Gaëlle’s art on deviantArt.

Shelter Sketches: Meet Tatiana

I hope our human and non-human animal friends on the East Coast stay safe this coming week!

Meet Tatiana

Tatiana is a young adult female Calico cat. She showed up in someone’s barn and was brought to a shelter, but she was definitely someone’s pet at some point. This absolutely beautiful girl is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and house-trained. Who wouldn’t love her!

Shelter Sketches: Meet Teaspoon

Last week a friend shared a post on Facebook of a beautiful little border collie mix named Emmit. I sent a message to the rescue asking if I could feature him on Shelter Sketches. Janice kindly replied that Emmit would have no problem getting adopted, but asked if I could feature another animal. I happily agreed and she sent me information on this week’s pup, Teaspoon. Interestingly, I didn’t realize until yesterday that Janice and her rescue, Rocky Ridge Refuge, are quite famous! You may have seen photos of Lurch, who holds the Guinness World Record for largest horn circumference. Sadly, Lurch died in 2010, but it looks like he had a long, wonderful life full of friends. Now, onto Teaspoon!

Meet Teaspoon

Teaspoon is about 14 months old and 25-30 lbs. I don’t know what breed mix she is, but she has one of the cutest dog smiles you’ll ever see! She came from a pack of 13 feral dogs, but as Janice said, Teaspoon “never got the memo that she was unsocialized and frightened of humans.” Despite her terrible medical state – she was emaciated and had a severe case of mange when she was rescued – Teaspoon is trusting and gets along well with people, dogs, and other animals. She is house-trained, up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed. The person who gives her a forever home will really be lucky!
