Shelter Sketches: Meet Scotty

I hope everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is enjoying the long days of summer! Make sure to keep your pets cool and safe.

Meet Scotty

Scotty is a small adult male with beautiful white fur. He was part of a feral cat colony on South Carolina, and was being beaten up by the other cats before he was rescued. He has gotten used to people and interacts well with other cats, though he is still a little skittish when people make sudden movements. He would love to go to a quiet, peaceful home. Can you help him?

Scotty is neutered, house-trained, and up to date on all his shots.

Chelsea Conlin is a freelance illustrator, but if she can help spread the word about animals in need with her skills, she’s more than happy to do so! She currently lives in Kentucky with her husband where they do what they can by driving dog rescue transports on weekends. They have two dogs of their own: a rescue greyhound named Storm and a mixed breed named Azu. You can find Chelsea at Paper Nautilus, her sketchblog, twitter, and deviantArt.

Shelter Sketches: Meet Shep

I apologize for this week’s post being so late! I was chained to a dog crate at the Dogs Deserve Better Chain-Off in Nashville, TN all day yesterday, where I got poured on and nearly frozen to death. As a result I spent half the day today feeling like I’d been trampled by large hoofed animals. Let’s just say I’m even more adamant in my belief that keeping dogs chained or confined outside all the time is inhumane.

Meet Shep

Shep is being fostered by a friend of mine who works with Greyhound Pets of America – Nashville. He is likely a German Shepherd/Chow mix and gets along well with her sight hounds, though he prefers the company of people. He was found on the roadside, but has quickly adapted to the life of an indoor dog and is fully house-trained. Shep is playful, knows a number of commands, and would make a great running or hiking partner!

Shelter Sketches: Meet Rambo

I volunteer at my local shelter, where I recently fell in love…

UPDATE: I just wanted to let everyone know that Rambo was adopted on June 21!! I’m not sure if this link will work for everyone, but here is a photo of him with his sweet new family on Facebook.

Meet Rambo

I almost didn’t want to do a Shelter Sketch of Rambo because I want to adopt him so badly. He has been at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society since April 8, and for the life of me I can’t understand why. His Petfinder page says “PERFECT!” for a reason, and anyone who adopts him is lucky beyond belief. He’s a two year-old shepherd mix with a thick, soft coat. Despite his name, Rambo is incredibly polite and docile but not timid, walks perfectly on leash, is house-trained, gets along great with other dogs, and loves to snuggle.

I would do just about anything to be able to bring him home with me, but since that doesn’t seem possible, all I can do is try to get him adopted by someone who will give him an awesome forever home. He really deserves it.

Shelter Sketches: Meet Juan

This week’s sketch is a real charmer by Char Reed!

Meet Juan

Juan was rescued from the JFK airport to prevent him and other cats there from being exterminated. His devoted foster parents have socialized him and he is now ready for life as an indoor cat. He is playful and gets along well with the other cats in his foster home. Juan had surgery to correct some eye problems and lost one eye, but the other one is healthy. Do you have room in your life for this tough cookie?
