365DAA Day 18: Spay/Neuter Society of the South (SOS)
Today’s group is another one brought to us from our friend Diane of To Dog With Love. It’s the Spay/Neuter Society of the South! Diane tells us in her own words how she got involved with this group and the Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue:
“When Cosmo and I got started on Twitter, we quickly found a group of people who were extremely generous in helping rescue animals. Through events such as #PawPawty on Twitter and later through the Blog The Change movement that came out of BlogPaws, we found ourselves helping many organizations from all over the world.
But then we wanted to do something closer to home, and had we had the opportunity to learn about and help a number of organizations in the Atlanta area. We also live in a wonderful neighborhood with lots of folks who support rescue animals and organizations. These two organizations — Mostly Mutts and Spay Neuter SOS — were both introduced to me by my next door neighbors… you can’t get any closer to home than that! I’ve had the opportunity to help at their adoption events, attend fundraisers and even eat out to help the rescue animals. I’ve gotten to know the folks who run these organizations and the volunteers who help, and while these aren’t the largest organizations in Atlanta, they couldn’t be run by a more dedicated group who are passionate about helping the animals who need it most. And, I’ve gotten to hang out with the pups and kitties … so when I heard about your 365 days, I told my neighbors, and we all wanted to jump at the chance to bring extra awareness to both these organizations — to help reduce the number of unwanted animals and find loving homes for all of them.”

About the Spay/Neuter Society of the South (SOS)
SOS’s goal is to reduce the number of dogs being euthanized by encouraging spay/neuter. There are many low cost spay/neuter options in the Greater Atlanta area but not everyone is aware of them. We want to spread the word about the importance of spay/neuter and help people find low cost options in their area.
Did you know? Over 100,000 animals are euthanized every year (just in the Metro Atlanta area) mainly due to animal overpopulation. You can be a responsible owner by spaying and neutering! There are many low cost programs (and sometimes “no cost”) available to help you in Georgia.
SOS holds events throughout the Atlanta metro area to raise money and awareness for low cost spay/neuter options.
Where You Can Find Them

I wanted to say that this logo is one of my favorites so far. I love the bold colors and design. And the question on the front puts what I believe so bluntly that people that see it can’t help but stop and face facts. Very cool shirt!
We absolutely adore our two rescue dogs and hate to even think they could have been euthanized. This is fabulous what you are doing. I hope you sell thousands of the t-shirts so that people will see the message…and THINK about it.
This is a very socially acceptable way to approach this problem and hats off to those that have gone to the trouble to put this messaging together for pet owners and pet lovers everywhere
