Shelter Sketches: Meet Michael
I thought I would play around with some rough shading and textures in this sketch. It’s certainly a contrast to last week’s stylized line work. What style of sketches do you all prefer?
Meet Michael
Michael is a one year old male Cane Corso, which means he is going to be a very big boy! I’m of the opinion that bigger dogs = more cuddles, though, so I don’t think I’d be able to resist this guy if I still lived in NY. His Petfinder page says that Michael will thrive in his forever home and be your faithful companion. He will be responsive to positive reinforcement training. Our experienced staff is available to talk with you, answer your questions and provide advice on how to transition him to your home. Michael is neutered, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and is up to date with vaccinations. His adoption fee is $200.00 and he’ll get one free exam at our vet’s office, one free month of pet health insurance and a microchip.

Chelsea Conlin is a freelance fantasy illustrator, but if she can help spread the word about animals in need with her skills, she’s more than happy to do so! She currently lives in Kentucky with her husband where they do what they can by driving dog rescue transports on weekends. They have two dogs of their own: a rescue greyhound named Storm and a mixed breed named Azu. You can find her at Paper Nautilus, her sketchblog, twitter, and deviantart.

[...] be sure to check out this past weekend’s Shelter Sketch of Michael the Cane Corso Mastiff. He’s super cute and floppy, and very much in need of a home. [...]
I like all of them, but I like this style more than the stylized line drawing. Of course they all look cute no matter what style.
Thanks! Haha, yeah, you can’t really get uncute with dogs and cats.
