I hear tell from Chelsea that Shelter Sketches is really catching on and that there are a few more artists out there that would like to take part! I’m not sure how to split it up, but we will gladly take any in any artist that wants to volunteer to do a shelter sketch. Just contact us via the form if you’re interested!

On to this weekend’s Shelter Sketch!

Meet Ellie

Ellie is a medium-sized adult female and is named after the shelter volunteer who put out the plea for help for someone to save this pretty girl. She was very very pregnant and the shelter she was at didn’t want to deal with her or with puppies, so they planned to kill her. The shelter volunteer thought Ellie and her babies were worth saving, and we agreed. Ellie is in a wonderful foster home where she delivered her 13 puppies (!) on Mother’s Day. 10 have survived so far and after a rough start (because of the poor nutrition and care she received prior to coming into our rescue), she is doing great! She is sweet and submissive, eager to roll over for a belly rub. This doesn’t appear to be her first litter of puppies, but this will be her last – we will get her spayed after she has weaned her babies so she can just be part of a family from now on. Ellie isn’t ready to be adopted just yet. She has to take care of her babies for the next 6-8 weeks. But we hope to have a family waiting for her when she’s ready so she can start her new life right away.
