Rick & Duke Need a Forever Home

Hey everyone! We are helping to look for a forever home for two wonderful dogs that were recently saved from possible euthanasia at a shelter in Rowlett, TX. It was a great effort between Nikki & I at ILRA, CLASP, Dallas Dog Life & one amazing woman named Heather Stewart who donated a whopping $100 to complete the $120 it took to spring these boys. The day after they came back home, their foster mom, Loretta, sent us all this picture:

Now we need to help these handsome boys find loving forever homes, hopefully together. If you or anyone you know lives in or near Rowlett, TX please spread the word! In case you don’t know, it is near Dallas & Fort Worth. If you are interested in these babies, please either let us know or contact Loretta directly. Below is what Loretta has to say about Rick & Duke:

These two dogs need FOREVER homes as soon as possible. They are brothers and were dropped off to my husband and myself by an aunt to babysit for a week. It has been several months and this aunt is not coming back for these babies. We have two dogs and two cats of our own and cannot keep these precious dogs. We have exhausted all of our funds trying to keep these babies fed and healthy and it has been a struggle. They have gotten out of a hole in our fence a couple weeks ago, got picked up by the Rowlett, TX Animal Services and we did not have the funds to free them. The animal rescue community came together to raise the money to save their lives and help us get them out of doggy jail. Now, they need loving, FOREVER homes. Rick and Duke would prefer to go to a home together, but can be separated if absolutely necessary. They are very close with each other. The information for both dogs is included. I hope we can find them a loving home fast where they can play, relax and become your new best friend! I have attached a few photos also.

I’m fearful that the Pit bull requires a specific kind of owner…these pet dogs, regardless of how ‘adoring’ still have teeth, are nevertheless creatures not having moral concepts and once they DO bite, won’t allow go. As in all creatures…some tend to be additional suseptable to instinctual habits and time and time again, this breed tends to try and do just that.

Just to spite the guy who talked bad about Pitbulls… They are amazing, SO lovable and friendly dogs.
Breeds are NEVER aggressive, it is how they are raised, so look to the owner when a dog is aggressive, don’t continue the stupidity and blame breeds!

LOVE WHAT YOU GUYS DO AND STAND FOR!!!!

Hi. I am the foster for the dogs in this post, Rick and Duke. I assume, “Booth”, that you have never owned a pit bull before? Well, I have a full blooded Red Nose Pit Bull, a Pit Bull mix and two cats of my own (on top of being a foster for these two Pit mixes) and they are the most loyal and affectionate breed I have ever come across and I am by no means a “dog trainer” or any different than a random person off the street that would have a pet. They all get along and are great with people, play and share, but beware……….they will possibly LICK you to death. You really should educate yourself before sticking your foot in your mouth about a subject you have no knowledge on. I really can’t even believe you would post something like that (on an animal rescue site no less!), when obviously if you are “anti pit bull” just because of the bad reputation they have due to irresponsible owners, you have never even tried to give one a chance. If YOU had any “moral concept”, you would give this breed a chance in the future, because an irresponsible owner can turn any dog aggressive. I really hope you do find it in your heart to give a Pit Bull a chance one day and I promise, you will become a less judgemental and more open person because of it.
